Sunday sayonara

Wouldn't you know my last column, pre-approved by Mom and her new beau, would get a bitter comment right from the get-go?  I've developed a thick epidermis over the years, but maybe this is God's way of saying all things happen for a reason.

A wonderful, witty column, so sweet and relatable. I've been there with my dad, meeting his girlfriend for the first time. They've been together 10 years...
p.s. I find the timing of the snarky comment very suspicious. I'm just saying....

Whoa. Those comments were nasty and uncalled for. I would say, "don't engage with the trolls." Did this person frequently comment like this? If so, the paper should have shut him/her down.

A columnist I know who writes these kinds of columns is constantly told she "sucks" as a writer, she is shallow, etc. blah blah blah. I cannot believe her newspaper doesn't shut these trolls down. No other columnist at her paper is attacked on a personal level like this, so I chalk it up to sexism.

Kim, I've never seen that person comment before. Clearly, I touched a nerve. I never engaged the trolls before but, as this was my "swan song," I couldn't resist. I felt like I was defending my mother as much as myself, oddly enough. Moving on...
