Homecoming

I know it’s been a while since you’ve heard from me, but for the last couple of months, while I’ve been attempting to date and find the love of my life, an old crush tracked me down on Classmates.com. I couldn’t believe my eyes when his e-mail arrived.
I must admit that it’s not really fair to say that he "tracked me down." He merely saw my name and dropped me a line. It should also be known that he never knew, nor did anyone else, that I had a crush on him.
In high school he was beautiful and all the girls had a crush on him. He was the Homecoming King.
Tall and handsome.
Dark hair and hazel eyes.
Athletic and smart.
His e-mail was sweet and funny, and he forwarded photos of the class reunion I missed last summer. I had to write back for a seating chart. Who were all of those old and fat people in that photo?! I laughed out loud with him on the phone as he told me stories of seeing everyone again.
There is something about getting in touch with someone that knows your history – someone who knows that you’re really just a little girl with nerd tendencies. Someone who knows the boys you dated in high school. We discovered that we were both single and looking for love on the World Wide Web.
The Homecoming King lives halfway across the country, but I am thrilled to have a partner in crime. A straight man I can talk to about Internet dating experiences.

This sounds very promising, even as a long-distance relationship. I admit I often think about my old crushes from high school and college. I would love to know what they're doing now, what they look like....and yet, maybe I'm better off living in the past the way some guys turn out.

It's too soon to tell, but I must say the long conversations on the phone are lovely.
Stay tuned ;-)
