Theirs was more than a doctor-patient relationship. Debbie Meyer, 54, and the surgeon, 52, also were good friends. “Marilee said she’d call after she got the pathologist’s report ... and when my doorbell rang, I knew there was something wrong,” Meyer said quietly.
