Do you want to change the world without dipping into the retirement fund? Stop sending e-mails and start posting your views on a blog like 57 million others are doing. You don’t have to start and stop at one blog; you can have as many as you have interests. WeB LOGs are much like books — same author, but different topics. Blogs are free to own and operate; all you need is a little training to get you over the fear factor and soon you’ll be using them like you use your cell phone.
Fortunately the women at www.BlogHer.org are willing to help get you started. Go here for more info and links to their offer.
The difference between e-mails and blogs is that blogs are “searchable” and become part of the collective conscience on the web. And, according to research by the Keller Fay Group, “Baby boomers remain extremely relevant to word of mouth (ad) campaigns. More than a third (37 percent) of Conversation Catalysts are baby boomers ages 40-59. This finding is contrary to marketers’ popular, long-held belief that WOM campaigns should be targeted to a younger demographic.”
In that same report, it was noted that women, more than men, are “conversational catalysts” (golly, go figure)
Why do it? The world needs more opinions to bring it back in balance and corporations are listening to everything that’s said.
