Are you going green?
With the help of celebrities like Leonardo DiCaprio, Cameron Diaz and the push from former Vice President Al Gore, green is definitely the in thing.
This new lifestyle is encouraging all of us to become eco-friendly by paying attention to how our homes, cars, clothes and the food we eat affect the planet. Whether you've given up bottled water or are contemplating purchasing a hybrid car, change is upon us.
Most of us have been doing some version of recycling for years, but now it's easier to decorate your home with recycled materials that are beautiful and stylish.
When it comes to eco-friendly decorating, Jackie Hirschhaut, vice president of the American Home Furnishing Alliance, said, "A wide variety of eco-friendly furnishings will be available to consumers this summer and early fall."
With the push for more green products, furniture manufacturers, home builders and other top designers are answering the call in a big way.
One of my favorite HGTV designers, Candice Olson, has paired up with Norwalk Furniture to create the Pyper Chair.

Don't stop at your furniture; consider purchasing 100-percent organic cotton sheets and bedding void of toxins and pesticides, touted to provide a better night's sleep. Consider cork or bamboo flooring options and don't forget to reuse your accessories and furniture in new ways.
In the coming months many more green products will be unveiled. As consumers, we will determine if our planet is important enough to make some of these changes.
