George Carlin dead at 71

One of my favorite George Carlin bits was Al Sleet - the hippy dippy weatherman: "The forecast for tonight, dark. Continued dark tonight, turning to partly light in the morning."

Carlin died in Santa Monace yesterday at age 71 from heart failure. Suddenly, I've got the urge to scream all "Seven Words You Can't Say on Television."

R.I.P. George.

I'm very sad about Carlin's death too. I had the pleasure of interviewing him for my college newspaper and he was hilarious. He summed up his philosophy of life by saying that he was always looking for the strange piece of bacon that nobody else wanted.

For all his counterculture schtick, he could make my button-down collar, conservative dad laugh out loud. He did one routine about his fear of flying and how unfortunate it was that an airport would have such a thing as a "terminal"...."Ladies and gentlemen, we are now approaching the terminal!!!!"

He was really a genius for his time and I loved listening to hsi records in junior high.
