Dear Mi-Ling: I am doing my 13 year-old daughter's bedroom over.
We just purchased black furniture. The floors will be a Wilsonart Laminate in the Northern Birch. It's a really light color. Her comforter is black and tan. It is almost like a toile pattern.
She has a small room and only one window. I would like ideas of what color to paint the walls.

Dear Christine: With all of the selections that you have made it appears that you are well on your way to creating a beautiful space for your daughter.
This is an opportunity for you and your daughter to work together, be mindful of her taste and allow her to make key decisions based on her design style.
As far as the wall color, I would probably go with an oatmeal or creamy tan color due to the lack of wall space. A white bead board or chair rail would also add interest to the wall.
Next, consider red drapes for the window and raise the pole as close to the ceiling as you can to create the illusion of more space. Ground the space with a nice rug that will not detract but blend in with the comforter. Try a couple options with all three colors. And add pillows to the bed to blend in all the colors.
Consider hanging a few framed, black peg boards up on the wall for your daughter to display photos of her friends. You can find very stylish push pins and boards at www.ballarddesigns.com.
