I love Ellen Degeneres, always have. I don't give a flip about her sexual orientation; to me, she's our generation's answer to Lucille Ball. She's that funny, but warmer and more approachable. But, yesterday, while watching her show, I did notice something a little odd.
Every day, I record the Ellen show and watch it, skipping the commercials (I love that part) as a way to unwind after work. I've been following Ellen since her early stand-up days and have always loved her hilarious but kind and respectful comedy. I was a big fan of her sitcom, too, and was baffled by all the hoopla surrounding her big "coming out" show. Sure, it may have been "too much information" for some viewers but, c'mon, what was it, 1997?
Anyway, yesterday I noticed something odd about Ellen. She was wearing noticeable makeup! Eye shadow and a thicker line around her incredibly blue eyes. What's up with that, I wondered?
Well, turns out it might have something to do with Ellen's new endorsement deal with CoverGirl cosmetics. Read about it here in the New York Times. I've always thought Ellen was cute as a bug's ear; it's part of her appeal. But a 50-year-old, gay and recently married woman replacing the likes of Christie Brinkley? What a fascinating and enlightened choice. I can't wait to see the commercials!

I can't agree with you more! I love Ellen and love the fact that she's a new CoverGirl. Good grief... beauty being represented by Ellen and Queen Latifah! WHAT?! Someone in the ad world has finally figured out that real women are beautiful. Well bust my buttons!
