Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2008
With all the spin doctors, pundits and negative ads out there, who can be sure what the candidates really said on any given stump? Enter Google in Quotes to set the record straight, sort of.
Love-hate relationship with dolls reborn
Sunday, Oct. 5, 2008
Of all the horrifying reports I saw on “The Today Show” this week (and there was a veritable cornucopia of horror to choose from), perhaps the most shocking was the one about grown women playing with dolls.

The much anticipated and ballyhooed vice-presidential debate is finally over. You've slept on it. Now, weigh in. Was there a clear winner? Will it change anyone's mind?

Do fake babies freak you out?
Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2008
Apparently, there are grown women in this world who play with eerily real-looking fake babies. They're called "Reborns," and the women dress, care for, even talk to them. There's a documentary on this weird phenomenon tonight on BBC America. Here's a preview from the Today show this morning.
How safe is your money?
Monday, Sept. 29, 2008
Admittedly, I was tempted to spend the weekend stuffing my mattress with whatever cash I have left. (Bad idea, for lots of reasons.) That's why I was heartened to hear Suzy Orman's reassurring words on the Today show this morning.

Stoke your debate fever

Congrats to our friend, Bryan!
Monday, Sept. 22, 2008
Well, he's not REALLY my friend. But a good pal of BoomerGirl's own Showbiz Kid won an Emmy last night, and that's good enough for me.
Happy Autumnal Equinox!

Fall is finally here (sweater weather! maple leaves! pumpkin pie!) and, if you ask my wardrobe, it didn't come a moment too soon!
Ellen a CoverGirl?
Saturday, Sept. 20, 2008
I love Ellen Degeneres, always have. I don't give a flip about her sexual orientation; to me, she's our generation's answer to Lucille Ball. She's that funny, but warmer and more approachable. But, yesterday, while watching her show, I did notice something a little odd.
Elizabeth Edwards' grace under pressure
Friday, Sept. 19, 2008
Elizabeth Edwards broke her silence and spoke to the Detroit Free Press this week about her husband's affair, her ongoing battle with cancer, and the legacy she wants to leave her children. Her courage never ceases to impress me.
Alaska's "Old Believers" a fascinating lot
Friday, Sept. 19, 2008
There's been a slew of stories on small Alaskan towns lately, but this one really caught my attention. The residents of Nikolaevsk have done a great job of living their own way out of the spotlight....until now.
