Your garage resembles the shed at our summer cabin, packed with stuff our "kids" (30 and 34) just can't bear to give away. Since they both live in NYC apts., my poor cabin and shed are both packed with furniture, books and toys-surely that Star Wars stuff will be valuable someday???

I haven't seen my "real" hair in 16 yrs. and I am about to let it grow out, using highlights to mask the roots while I find out just how much grey I have. Would love to know how others handled the transition.

I protested the war in Viet Nam, though my boyfriend, now spouse, was serving there in '67-'68. I never thought of our soldiers as babykillers then, and I don't now. I believe that they were and are being sent to fight wars that can't be won to meet the economic and political objectives of a power elite. (Read about the Bush family's connections with the Saudi Royal family.) I raised my children to be honorable, ethical Americans who care about people in every country, and those less fortunate than they are. I'm proud to be an aging hippie, and I'm proud of Charlie Rangel, who never called an American soldier a baby-killer in his life!

You folks are young. My three best concerts: Elvis at Madison Square Garden in 1971 (I think), Jim Morrison and the Doors at Hunter College, and the Rolling Stones at Shea. All very powerful performers. Had a chance to see the Beatles at Shea in their first US performance and turned them down. I regretted that later.

Oh, yeah. I know how that feels, and it's been a long time since Woodstock. Going to see them in Boston in Sept. Very exciting. Also seeing Dylan next week in Bethel, NY and hope to see Steve Miller Band in July in PA. Still love concerts, even though my knees lock if I still down for too long!

Women's life expectancies were much shorter-childbirth wiped us out either in truth, by death, or just from exhaustion after endless pregnancies and loss of children to childhood diseases. My grandmother had 14 children. The first 3 died in the influenza epidemic of 1919. Only seven lived to adulthood. She didn't have time or the emotional energy to think about happiness or fulfillment in old age.

If my husband tried to do something like this, I'd be very angry. What is happening is not amusing. I haven't slept a full night since 2001, and my sense of humor is not too good these days. (no hot flashes, or anything else, but six years of insomnia is really and truly dreadful.

I used gels, too. Then I tried French soap (Mistral and others). The fragrances are amazing, and they feel so good. They also work well in a sweater drawer!

On Can these new bar soaps recapture the gel crowd?
