"Beau" is a Southern term used by women of all ages when speaking of a man they are dating. Plus, it sounds more refined than saying "this is the guy taking the edge off my hormones this week."

I love Paula! I remember when Lady & Sons opened, Paula would check on you during the meal and sometimes even sit with you after the meal to ask what you liked best and why? She only did this if I was eating alone, but she is very sincere in her desire to please.

She has also blossomed under the love given back to her. We are probably seeing how she has always behaved with family and close friends. Aren't we blessed that she is relaxed enough now to share this part with the masses!

Paula Deen restaurants, cooking classes, and books are the best thing for tourism in Savannah. She is an institution here.

While "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil" will always be The Book here, Paula Deen is The Cook.

Oh, so true. Seems all the men I have ever dated referred to me as their "girlfriend" to their family and friends. Though it hits a nerve with me, I rarely mention it to them, assuming it is an example of men's limited vocabulary.

Since turning 40 (ten years ago), I've called all the men I seriously dated "my beau" when talking to friends about him. If he is standing with me, I will introduce him as my "special friend" or "friend"...and sometimes just use his name, the body language says it all.

Loved How to Hepburn! It should be included with all graduations gifts for young women. Kate was always my role model. I didn't realize how much I lived by her rules till I read the book. It's a unique biography with touches of humor and lots of truth.
