Pat,
I had exactly the same experience with the CAT scan "slide show"after my dad's stroke. As the layers peeled away and we saw the same horrible, massive black stain on my his brain, we all gasped and I knew instantly that there was no coming back. Unfortunately, my dad was only 76. Fortunately, his affairs were in good order, advance directives included, and the entire family was on the same page.

Linda, thank you for your comment. BoomerGirl is a national (international) Web site and my Sunday night TV segment airs in markets well outside of Lawrence. In this instance, I was interested in providing resources, like the Center for Practical BioEthics, that anyone can use, wherever they are. That said, I am happy to learn of your group's existence and am glad to help you get out the word, locally, in whatever way I can.

I've heard of people buying a new dishwasher and ending up with a whole new kitchen but a $25000 patio? Wow!
No check yet but my husband decided to build us 4 Adirondack chairs, which are beautiful, so that eliminates one choice. I still like the idea of putting $100 down on Powerball tickets....

I saw the scarf thing, too, and I almost gagged at the utter cluelessness of it. I'm also getting sick and tired of EXTREMELY wealthy women telling us we don't need "a bunch of stuff" to be happy. The message is true; the messengers - a tad hypocritical.
This was a great Herspectives. Thanks.

I agree with Crabby and I applaud you for trying to get to the bottom of it and being proactive. You are probably speaking for a LOT of women our age who are in the same boat. 'Am eager to hear about the job.... update us soon!

I wouldn't wish this flu on my worst enemy (which, of course, you are NOT, Crabby). The first 2 or 3 days, you really aren't sure if it is, indeed, the 'flu'. Then - BAM! - there is no doubt in your mind, or your body. Good luck and, as they say, wash your hands like Lady Macbeth!

I've been down with a bad case of the flu (despite getting a flu shot this year, go figure) so I'm just getting to these comments. Thanks a lot.
Suzi, want to see what I look like? Just imagine some fringe on the photo at the top of my blog and you've just about got it (ha!!) That forehead is enormous, don't you agree?
Seriously, I've been too sick to think about the bangs issue much but I have relished the thought of being carded at least daily since the sushi restaurant.

Tess, you're welcome. It was a selfish assignment, I admit. I will say that the lighter pink lipstick does take years off and I am giving serious consideration to bangs, after years without them.

Polly, we've had a request from a reader - do you know if they sell a KEAT-like device in the U.S.?
Thanks,
Cathy
