Like Alice, I moved my mother here because she had several health crises. She had stayed far from all of her children in order to care for her mother, who lived to be 101. When I brought her here, we all thought she would compete with our grandma's longevity. We moved her to Babcock place and she loved it. loved it! Everyone was caring and friendly and she got involved. She never regretted the move and was thankful for her new friends. She died a year ago and I am so happy we could make her happy.
You made me giggle. I have a hard time laughing at myself when I stand naked in front of the mirror. It doesn't change the way I look but it helps to know others are also wondering what happened to their body.
I keep thinking of my mother and her story. She divorced my father after 31 yrs of marriage because he could be emotionally difficult for her. He suffered PTSS after WWII and had times when he was emotionally dependent. It sounds trite, but it was difficult. In his good times he was wonderful, and I thought he was a wonderful father, but maybe not always such a wonderful husband. The end result was she remarried once for a few years and that didn't work out and spent the rest of her life regretting the divorce from my dad. She died a year ago and to the last thought she had made a mistake. He was the love of her life even if he was needy. My story is different, and each of us has our own story. I think it is unfortunate that more women are spending their later years without their life partner, but sometimes things come to a point and a decision must be made.
We all have an individual outlook on this subject and are all influenced by the fashion industry and have been our whole lives. To say we could turn away from years of influence and be free to look however we choose is pretty much impossible. Each of us finds our own peace and ability to embrace our indivual beauty whatever the packaging is. Mine is definitely a mixture so I have gray and darker mixed.
