Cathy, you're hilarious...(as always).. But also funny is that I thought the "bib" idea was meant to highlight juvenile trends of which we have plenty or perhaps as a coy alternative (perhaps when meeting your in-laws or at a business party) to all the totally see-thru tops that were recently on many designer's lines down the runway (nobody flinched there either!)..Hmmmm. So interesting. 'Just listened to an ex-model -turned actress, interviewed on NPR who was asked to return to modeling because supposedly "older" (they think 38 is older) women are looking for models to relate to. However, when asked her age on the air, the woman refused to say, stating it would harm her acting career rather than her new modeling prospects. It's sad but Hollywood (as opposed to advertising based in NYC) is still in the Dark Ages. On a lighter note.. I always think of what my now 101 year old aunt used to say "I always tell people I'm OLDER, that way they'll say how wonderful I look for my age!".So there!
It's true many women lead busy lives, and may dislike shopping. However when they go to only one store and rely on the personal shopper who makes her percentage from selling only that store's merchandise...the client is short-changed.Obviously it's free, and that's a bonus if budget trumps any great style considerations.I work as a style consultant (hourly fee, no percentage...and affordable to many). My services insure my client no bias, total freedom to choose from a great variety of resources that I expose them to, and at the end of the day ,I save them money (less mistakes, and exposure to smart buying and sales).Best of all they attain a look that's modern, expresses their personality and works for all their lifestyle needs.
I'm all for makeovers (checkout "Forever Cool")... But I really wish a softer more refined look would be the "after" and not so severe...Also if a woman is featured in a casual outfit as the beforre ,then the "after" version should be equally casual.
It's interesting about all this. I contribute to BoomerGirl...and wrote "Forever Cool" as a pioneer on the subject (for men and women boomers)... I work as a style consultant and was a costume designer and print stylist for years before. What amazes is me how I can so disagree with at least three items on the "to do" list according to Charla...one is about pink lipstick....and i promise it will be addressed in my new book (due 5/09). I believe a woman should wear a neutral tawny lipstick (neither pink or orange or burgundy). She can wear pink or rose when her clothing dictates...not as a "rule'". The other is about the bangs...I love to see a forehead...what's wrong with some wrinkles! We are crazy in this country about all this. I might add that "bling" is the blight of the 80's and has been over-indulged even at 3 items. My feeling is that "naturalness" and "refinement" are becoming extinct. My mission is to bring them back ...especially as we age!

Yup! "Give a busy person something to do!"...
I'm soooo glad you're NOT Suzanne!
On Ten days into my FaceMaster experiment, I make a lame attempt to demonstrate how the thing works. (
