I, too, am a weather geek. Living in California's central valley, we don't have a lot of weather drama, although last year we did have a dusting of snow ten minutes up the hill. I piled the kids (teens) in the car. They were not impressed.

My sister! My husband, too, will throw in an "aint". Good to know I'm not suffering alone!

I, too, was a tomboy in my youth. My four brothers were (are) brainiacs and never played a sport. Of course, I didn't either. There weren't a lot of opportunities for girls to play organized sports. I was, however, the fastest runner, tetherball champ, kickball wizard, tree climber extroadinaire, etc. I did do the Barbie thing, and I too love cute shoes! And yes, I tend to @*&$#* a lot more than I should. But helpless, meek, and a slave to fashion? Never!

My best friend and I spent a week in Puerto Vallarta. We had a wonderful time. We have been best buddies since 7th grade, and have never had so much as a weekend trip together. We planned the trip for 30-I had just given birth, at 35, I had another newborn, at 40, she had a newborn, at 45, she had surgery. We finally made it for our 50th. Puerta Vallarta was perfect. Lot's of great restaurants. We spent most of our time at our hotel though. Swimmimg, reading, napping, eating, and of course, drinking at the swim up bar!! We are definately going back at 55, but in the meantime, we may try Vegas.

I have often thought of going natural. My formerly brunette with red and gold highlights (natural) has been replaced with black and white. I miss my brown hair, but don't care for the black. My temples are 90% silver, which is pretty, but my part is maybe 30% gray, and the back? Who knows. I keep coloring because I am trying to find a better job-but let's face it, I'll never pass for 30 again!

So true! I love your "Sheriff of the universe", the fact that you now get pissed, and your answer to that 19 year-old. I work with a group of 20-somethings and get a good aerobic workout daily-laughter-listening to their drama. I am that invisible old lady (all of 51) and I love it! Bwaaahaaahaaa!!!!

I was just 45 when I had "questionable ejecta" (love that!) for the first time. Fleet does not =fun. The worst part of the prep was the five minues it took to down those few ounces. Even diluted in water, I could "feel" it. Plugging the nose did not help. Am I saline sensitive? Others have related that it wasn't that unpleasant. I am not a wimp. I had four children without benefit of anesthesia of any sort (why did we feel we had to do that, anyway?). The next 24 hours was not all that unpleasant, a lot of good quality reading time. The next morning, just as the IV was being prepared, "the insurance company has not yet approved the procedure". Thank goodness my doctor had faith he would be paid and performed the colonoscopy anyway. Which, I might add, was a piece of cake. I too, had watched Katie's procedure, and wanted to watch mine ( I wanted to make sure the Dr. didn't miss anything! As if I would know).I tried my darndest to stay awake, but missed most of it. Last year, at 50, I was very anemic and underwent the scope again. I wish I could say the Fleet was easier to down, but I don't like to fib. Thanks for your post, Pat. Everyone else, don't put it off!
