Excited about new opportunity!

I am an entrepreneur (3rd generation). I currently have 3 businesses. I jointly own a small construction business with my husband and I have a small labor contracting business I run. I was excited about those but I'm most excited about my latest venture. I became a consultant for Suzanne Somers newest company: Suzanne. I've tried several home party businesses before but found they had become rather mundane in their marketing and their products. Out of the blue, I heard her speaking about her new book and her new business. I checked it out and was very impressed. Turns out she was wooed by some former Amway execs and together they started this new company. She's taking some of her existing, proven products like jewelry, food and skin care, and rebranding them for her new company. She's also developing new lines and products. I figure if I don't like it, it will be hard to sell it so I became a customer. Now I'm sold - hook, line and sinker. This woman's on to something! Now I'm one of the first 3000 people in the country to join. Imagine being one of the first to have joined Tupperware or Mary Kay. I'm very lucky. Anyone else have a home-based business story?

Congratulations on your decision to add an additional stream of income to your household! I have always been an entrepenuer wannabee, but didn't have access to the startup costs that go along with a brick and mortar type business. That is why I decided last year to officially open my own home based travel business. I love that there are so many opportunities out there for an average person like myself to tap into the power of the internet and create personal and financial freedom for my own family. Timing, as you well know, is the key! Good luck with your new endeavor!

Two of us (women) run our shared business out of our homes and the third person runs his part of it out of his office.

I love the lifestyle and (mostly) have the disciline to do so, as a former reporter. It is SavvyHer, the first online social network where women 45+ get recognized & rewarded (with gifts) when their tip is voted among the ten most popular each month.

As at Boomer Girl, we are experiencing a steep learning curve. I am so grateful for this community of women... and look forward to the growth of this club - Kare

I, too, work from home. I am an Arbonne International Area Manager. This is a total career change for me, as I spent many years as an accountant and then a bank officer. Finally decided in June of last year it was time to take the plunge, as I had been using the products (buying at a discount for a year and loving them). By November I was at a point my husband and I decided I could quit my job and focus on my Arbonne. It was the best decision I ever could have made!
Good luck with your new venture!

Yaay - to all of us home based solo-entrepreneurs! I'm an Australian living in Colorado - been here for 3 years - and started a home-based business in the Wellness area. Not knowing anyone (apart from my husband) when I came here - I had to get out and meet people. Having your own business is such a great way to meet people and create lasting relationships and friendships. I decided to focus on the "boomer" market as the growing market of women who want to be fit and healthy and also have a financially secure future. And there have been challenges along the way. I've had thoughts of "I'd be better off getting a job" "how can I get this to work" etc etc. What has been a great incentive to me is knowing that I am creating something for the future and sharing with women the opportunity to be fit, healthy and financially free!
I love the idea of getting up in the morning and saying "who am I going to meet today - and who can I make a difference with!"
So I say, "Rock on solo-entrepreneurs!"
