While support groups are useful, I'm sure, caregivers shouldn't have to rely on support groups only. Here are a few simple things that others can do that can make a difference.
Friends can conspire with the elder to buy a holiday card for the caregiver. (Buying your own birthday card year after year gets old.)
Neighbors can visit the elder or at least phone once in a while.
Church members can offer to stay with the elder in order that the caregiver may attend a religious service.
Club members can volunteer to be phone pals with the elder.
What suggestions did I forget?
