In the HEAT of the night

My husband loves to keep the thermostat set at 75 degrees year round. This in itself is not a problem---in the summer months. But once winter hits with frigid blasts outside and warm furnace blasts inside we start the nightly "dance of the blankets". He will be wearing his warm P.J.'s and have the covers pulled tightly under his chin---I will begin the "dance" of flinging the covers off my feet and legs and covering my upper arms---followed up in minutes by covering my legs and feet and baring my upper torso. He has timed it and swears that it occurs almost exactly every 20 minutes. Needless to say this is not conducive to a peaceful night's sleep! Mother Nature has seen fit to play with my inner thermostat and test me on just how many times I can change from chilled to "who opened the oven door?” And let me assure you that changing my nightie every hour on the hour was not my way of making a fashion statement! After many weeks of this "dance of a thousand nighties" I finally came up with a compromise---Cuddle Duds! They are lightweight and help control the hot/cold problem. Another helpful item would be my hubby's Jockey brand T-shirts and tank type undershirts, very soft and comfy! I still have some nights that make me think I have been sent to menopause hell and need to drink copious amounts of ice water, but over all the "heat of the night" has improved drastically. Is that what is causing my hubby to smile so sweetly---peeking up at me from under his quilt wearing his warm P.J.'s, warm fuzzy socks and sweater?

Ah, the dance! I know it well. I will try the Cuddle Duds solution and hope for the same results. Thanks for the post!

I live in Topeka, i'm needin some Cuddle Duds too lol..

We set our thermostat at 70 year round. My honey is in flannels and LJ's mostly :) Short sleeves for him while in the house is a thing of the past.

I remember as a skinny teenager always being cold. I would wait for my mom to fall asleep so I could raise the heat, It didn't take mom long to figure out what was going on. Within a few days there was a plastic cover with a lock on it over the thermostat. Mom would say "Your turn will come"

It's true "What goes around comes around" Today because my son is following in his mamas foot steps I am having our thermostat enclosed in plastic with a lock on it until mother nature restores me to sanity. Have A great day.

You can buy Cuddle Duds at Weavers in Lawrence or any JC Penney's store. They are mainly advertised to keep you warm, but also work well to keep your body temp regulated. I think I should contact the company and offer my assistance in marketing them to "thermostatically challenged" boomer women, what do you think?
Maybe I can make enough money to move to a climate that better suits my sleeping requirements!
